The History of this Information: A tip of the hat to PPETE PORRO [pporro@prodigy.net]

I had that collection up on Prodigy for a few years.  Here's a brief background. Back in the dark ages of Fidonet ;) there were many people who traded and collected files. I found many times that the same file would come around from Mufon with a different name, but same errors in spelling, maybe some more margins that needed fixing. Paranet had a bunch of really dedicated guys who collected everything. A guy down South created Odyssey file system. Then there was UFOnet out of Canada.

Since I ran a multi-line TBBS system, it worked out that I was Fidonet system, Paranet system and the US hub for UFOnet. So I had lots of files and messages to read!

Paranet may still be around, but they seem to have gone Internet pay, last I looked. Mufon is still like a foursome looking for a lost ball in the woods. UFOnet (the original one), has been disbanded. Odyssey stopped working on his library due to health, if I remember right.

So just before Odyssey closed shop, the guy sent me his complete files on a QIC-80 tape. I already had most of the Paranet stuff and the UFOnet guy sent me everything he had, on a bunch floppies. Many, Many duplicate files. I was hoping to someday get a copy of Summation, the legal software, or at least get some crack paralegal to run the files, so I could get a key word search and start culling out all the dupes.

OK that's the _short_ story.  I left out names, but if you go through the files, you'll probably find everyone from all of the above groups, listed somewhere.

I may still return to the project, and get all of this up on the Internet. Yes, free and for anyone who wants it, or not for profit at least. Some folks think the only reason to pursue UFO buffs is to scam them and bilk folks for their money.

I dropped out of the whole scene about ten years ago, so all of my files, reports and news flashes, are historic. I always wondered what was going on with everyone. It used to be a nice group of regulars, and weekly news and information. Some outrageous debates when Bill Cooper was active, and some other people who made huge claims, and had their stories shot full of holes. The Florida sightings, followed by AZ and

Nevada were just about the end of it.
