Ian Trump – Biography

Ian Trump is an award winning project manager and senior technical architect currently working for GFI Software Inc. He is responsible for all technical matters in North America.

Originally from Stratford, Ont. Ian moved with his family to Winnipeg, MB. at a very early age and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg in 1997. This degree was quickly followed by certificates in Project Management from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and a Telecommunications certificate from Red River Community College in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Ian’s first enrolment in the Canadian Forces was in 1989 when he joined the Summer Youth Employment Program hosted by HMCS Chippewa. He became fully qualified as a Naval Combat Information Operator the next summer. In 1992 Ian transferred to the Military Intelligence and after along summer in Aldershot, NS. graduated as an Intelligence Operator with 6 Intelligence Company in Winnipeg, MB.

Ian left the forces in 1993 to work on his academic and technological qualifications and worked as a technician, team leader and project manager for SHL Systemhouse Inc., MCI Worldcom Inc. and EDS. These jobs moved Ian to Edmonton, AB. San Diego, CA. and back again to Winnipeg, MB. in 2001.

In 2001 Ian re-entered the Canadian Forces with the Military Police as a 2nd Lieutenant and completed his Basic Training, Officer Training and Common Army Phase training in Gaugetown, NB.  As both the 13 MP Platoon Commander and 15 MP Company Operations Officer he oversaw unprecedented growth in the Company for the mission in Afghanistan and force generated 35 soldiers for the MP Company attached to Task Force Afghanistan 309.

Today, His Interests include History, Engineering for Live or Studio recording, Travel and all aspects of Security. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
